'He's Not Happy There!' Stephen A. Smith Ponders Damian Lillard Bucks Trade - Blazer's Edge

gamagana.blogspot.com

The Portland Trail Blazers are out of the playoffs, but if they were to have any rooting interest, it would likely be for Damian Lillard and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Lillard and the Bucks won 49 games this season despite starting 30-13. A 19-22 finish pushed the Bucks to third in the Eastern Conference, landing them a playoff series with the sixth-seeded Indiana Pacers.

While Dame is happy to be back in the playoffs, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith wonders if this could be the only postseason appearance for Lillard in Milwaukee.

“If Milwaukee loses, I think you need to consider moving Dame up outta there,” Stephen A. Smith said. “I’m not talking about his game. He’s not happy there.”

It’s long been documented that Lillard preferred to be traded to the Miami Heat last offseason, but the Blazers were unimpressed by the potential offer they would have gotten from the defending Eastern Conference champions.

That’s why the Blazers ended up making a trade with the Bucks and Phoenix Suns that landed them a haul headlined by Jrue Holiday and Deandre Ayton. Holiday was traded again to the Boston Celtics for Malcolm Brogdon and future draft capital, setting the Blazers up comfortably for their rebuild.

Ultimately, Lillard requested a trade from the Blazers in order to compete in the postseason. He’s back in the playoffs after a two-year absence, and if the Bucks win in the postseason, I’m sure he’ll turn whatever frown he may have upside down.

Lillard and the Bucks begin their playoff run on Sunday against the Pacers.
