MLB offseason: Predicting trade chances for these eight stars - New York Post

gamagana.blogspot.com

The trade market is hot, with big names at least in play. Here we’ll predict the trade chances for eight stars (from most likely to be dealt to least likely).

Tyler Glasnow, Rays SP

The $25M price tag made him a trade target the day it was signed. He’s an ace, at least when healthy. Odds to be traded: 70 percent.

Juan Soto, Padres OF

The Padres need to cut money and are listening, and the untimely death of beloved and admired team owner Peter Seidler is yet another reason rivals believe the Padres won’t continue to collect stars. While there’s no likelihood Soto would forgo free agency now — agent Scott Boras and Soto would consider an extension but only at their price, surely well above the $440M he turned down from the Nats — he still has good value. Rivals see the Padres getting two top-100 prospects for him. One caveat: If the Padres somehow get Shohei Ohtani, Soto will surely go. Odds to be traded: 65 percent.

Dylan Cease, White Sox SP

The White Sox are telling teams everyone is available, and they’ve talked seriously on Cease, who has enormous value. He’s very dependable (no missed starts three straight years), has ace talent (a 2.20 ERA in 2022) and is two years from free agency. The White Sox lost 101 games, and while the Orioles and Diamondbacks showed us how to transform into a playoff team two years after losing 100 games, it’s still unlikely. Odds to be traded: 60 percent.

Eloy Jimenez, White Sox OF

Jimenez is another star the South Siders are seriously discussing. However, the promising hitter has been hurt a ton, dropping his value. Odds to be traded: 50 percent.

Corbin Burnes, Brewers SP

The Brewers are telling teams they’ll listen on everyone, and true ace Burnes is worth a bundle. However, they can win their division again, and a trade of Burnes seriously diminishes their chances. Remarkably, the Brewers have consistently avoided selling despite existing in MLB’s No. 30 market. Maybe a deadline play? Odds to be traded: 30 percent.

Shane Bieber, Guardians SP

The Guardians are unafraid to pull triggers. But the former Cy Young winner wouldn’t command what he should after an injury year. Odds to be traded: 20 percent.

Luis Robert, White Sox OF

Rival GMs say the White Sox would truly listen on anybody, and Robert would bring a king’s ransom off a brilliant season. Odds to be traded: 10 percent.

Pete Alonso, Mets 1B

I include Alonso only because teams are asking about the slugger a year from free agency. But the Mets seem to have every intention of holding onto the homegrown star and seeing if they can re-sign him after the season, as they did with Brandon Nimmo and Edwin Diaz. Odds to be traded: 5 percent.
