Indonesia's trade surplus widened in September as a fall in imports outweighed a drop in exports.
Southeast Asia's largest economy posted a trade surplus of $3.42 billion for the month, compared with a $3.12 billion surplus in August, the statistics agency said Monday.
The country had trade surpluses with the U.S., India, and the Philippines.
Indonesia's exports fell 5.63% in September from the previous month to $20.76 billion, weighed by lower non-gas exports, amid a decrease in animal or vegetable fats and oil commodities shipments. Exports were 16.17% lower when compared with the same period a year earlier.
Imports in September declined 8.15% from a month earlier to $17.34 billion. Non-oil shipments was 13.6% lower on month, due to decrease in electrical machinery or equipment parts imports.
Imports was 12.45% lower from a year earlier, the agency said.
