NBA Rumors: Lakers Reunite With Former Fan Favorite in Win-Win Trade Proposal With Bulls - Wisconsin Sports Heroics

NBA rumors: More than a few Los Angeles Lakers fans were not happy to see Alex Caruso leave the team a couple of years back via NBA free agency. The 6-foot-4 combo guard was an integral part of LA’s 2020 title run alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but at the end of the day, Caruso opted to move on to greener pastures when he signed with the Chicago Bulls in the summer of 2021.

Two years removed from their divorce, the Lakers now have an opportunity to bring back the fan-favorite guard in an intriguing trade proposal with the Bulls.

Lee Tran of Fadeaway World has proposed a trade scenario between the Lakers and the Bulls that could prove beneficial for both sides. LA gets Caruso back while Chicago acquires a pair of young talents that could help them in their looming rebuild.

Here’s the trade proposal:

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Alex Caruso

Chicago Bulls Receive: Jalen Hood-Schifino, Max Christie, 2024 Second-Round Pick (LAC via LAL)

Caruso’s return isn’t just for the fans. The Lakers have one of the most competent defensive lineups in the league today, and the addition of Caruso should take this to another level. The 29-year-old has proven that he’s one of the top defensive guards in the NBA who can cover both guard positions, so he should fit right into Coach Darvin Ham’s rotation in spite of the log jam at the backcourt. The fact that Caruso brings a lot of energy to the floor whenever he’s out there should make it easy for the coaching staff to find minutes for him off the bench.

NBA Rumors: Bulls Get Young Talent From Lakers

It now feels imminent that the Chicago Bulls soon embrace a full rebuild. Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic could be on the move in the not-so-distant future, and when this happens, the Bulls will need some young talent to kick off their new era.

Incoming second-year guard Max Christie and rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino will fall in line with Chicago’s new timeline. Both players have a ton of potential, and with a bit of luck, either (or even both) of them could be part of the Bulls’ new young core. As a sweetener, Chicago also gets a future second-rounder from the Lakers, which they can use in next year’s draft. Definitely not a bad return for a player who has two years left remaining on his current deal.
