NBA free agency is here. Players and teams officially could start negotiating and agreeing to deals after 6 p.m. ET on Friday, and multiple All-Stars have signed new contracts. All of those big names are staying put, however. Kyrie Irving (Mavericks), Khris Middleton (Bucks), Draymond Green (Warriors), Jerami Grant (Trail Blazers) and Kyle Kumza (Wizards) all reportedly agreed to new deals worth $100 million or more on Friday, all doing where they finished the 2022-23 season.
Irving, the No. 1 free agent in CBS Sports' top 30, is getting a $126 million deal and the third and final year of the contract is reportedly a player option. Grant has secured the biggest deal of free agency so far in terms of total money, with Portland giving him $162 million over five years. Brooklyn's Cam Johnson also got a deal worth nine figures as he reportedly re-signed with the Nets for four years and $108 million. Here's a look at the biggest free agent deals so far:
NBA free agency notable deals
There is one player who is shockingly not a free agent. James Harden made the most stunning move of the offseason to date when he opted into his player option for the 2023-24 season on Thursday. The move comes with the 76ers trying to move the veteran star in a trade after the sides were apparently not seeing eye-to-eye about a potential new contract. Like Kevin Durant's bombshell trade request one year ago, the Harden domino will certainly impact the rest of NBA free agency and the Clippers among others are interested in landing him.
So what will happen next in free agency or on the trade market? CBS Sports will be tracking it all with live updates, rumors, news and more. Follow along below.
