The Tennessee Titans could be ready to make a splash to land their next franchise quarterback.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network reported the Titans are among the teams "exploring" a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
"Can I give you the team that I have been told to keep an eye on that's exploring this and looking into this?" Jeremiah said on his Move the Sticks podcast (h/t Buck Reising of A to Z Sports). "Again, this is just people around the league who said do not sleep on Numero 11. The Tennessee Titans. The two teams to keep an eye on with the trade-ups were the Raiders and the Titans."
Tennessee would presumably be moving up in the draft to take Florida's Anthony Richardson, who has moved ahead of Kentucky's Will Levis on most draft boards. Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Alabama's Bryce Young are expected to go 1-2 in some order.
Stroud is currently a -330 favorite to be the top selection at DraftKings Sportsbook. Young is listed at -275 to be the second overall selection, while Richardson has emerged as a -140 favorite at No. 3.
Richardson sliding into favorite status as the third pick would indicate oddsmakers are banking on a team making a trade up with the Cardinals. Arizona remains invested in Kyler Murray as its franchise quarterback despite a nightmare 2022 that ended with Murray suffering a torn ACL.
The Titans selected Malik Willis in the third round of last year's draft hoping to hit a home run, but Willis struggled mightily as a rookie. With veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry set to become free agents after the 2023 season, it might be time for Tennessee to embark upon a new era on offense.
Richardson might wind up being the next face of the franchise.
