On Saturday, July 31, there were two fatal traffic incidents. One occurred in the county, and one occurred inside Starkville city limits.
The Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department (OCSD) and Oktibbeha County Fire Department (OCFD) responded to a two vehicle traffic accident on Oktoc Road. There was one fatality and two others were injured and taken to Oktibbeha County Hospital for treatment.
District Five OCFD had to use the jaws to remove the victims. The accident is currently under investigation and the OCSD has not released the names of those involved in the accident.
The other accident occurred within city limits, and Starkville Police Department (SPD) was on the scene of a collision between a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Industrial Park Road and Miley Drive.
22-year-old Sturgis resident William Grayson Watson was pronounced dead on the scene.
This crash is currently being investigated by SPD.
