The off-season for the Chicago Blackhawks just got a little bumpier with the report from Elliotte Friedman on Wednesday that Duncan Keith and the Blackhawks are looking on a potential trade to the Pacific Northwest.
While I understand that Keith is in control of where he plays, as he should be as a three-time champion and one of the best players in franchise history, I think that trading Keith right now would be the wrong move for the team.
This news kind of came out of nowhere as Keith stuck with the team the last few seasons when the play on the ice was not great, and now it seemed like the roster was going to be the best it has been since 2018.
Here is the tweet from Elliotte Friedman:
Trading future Hall of Fame players does happen in the NHL, but I still believe letting Duncan Keith join a new team would be a big mistake for a franchise trying to win one more time with Toews and Kane.
