The New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics both had disappointing seasons that could lead to big changes in their respective rosters.
The Pelicans need to add more defense and shooting around superstar Zion Williamson, while the Celtics may have hit their ceiling with the Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown trio.
Reports surfaced yesterday that the Celtics and Walker are looking for a mutual breakup but the Celtics are going to find that trading Walker and his contact might not be so easy without giving up assets in return.
Walker is owed $36 million next season and has a player option for $37.6 million the year after that, an option he is almost guaranteed to exercise.
If the Celtics want to shake up their roster and add talent, they are going to have to get rid of Walker, but to do so they will have to give up something in return.

At first glance both teams might recoil from this trade, but it would at least get both to the table for a serious discussion.

This one would definitely rock the foundations of NBA Twitter and would potentially give both teams a fresh start with pieces that might better fit their direction.
But would either team consider this?
It’s rare to see a straight up swap for talent and depending on your point of view, this one might be lopsided for one team, but this is about as close to even as a trade is going to get.
