Dan's Daily: Oilers Compete w/ Penguins for Trade Target? Other Options - Pittsburgh Hockey Now

The Edmonton Oilers have identified one specific area of need on their roster, and what they need directly competes with what the Pittsburgh Penguins need on the NHL trade market. Both need a right-handed center who can play fast, be physical and win faceoffs. Also in the Daily, you get to make a Penguins trade as GM, a Bruins shakeup could be on the way, and the Carolina Hurricanes officially added a goalie to the NHL trade pond.

If I were GM…

PHN+: To solidify the Penguins and add some truculence, we propose a Penguins trade, or four. 

TSN: Frank Seravalli identifies three NHL trade targets, including Luke Glendening for the Edmonton Oilers, which happen to overlap the Penguins’ need, too. 

Seravalli also listed Edmonton’s backup plans, which could also be the Penguins’ backup plans, though I can’t see Brandon Sutter back with the Penguins.

NHL.com: The Carolina Hurricanes have three goalies. They need a defenseman. GM Don Waddell said one could be had for a defenseman. 

Boston Hockey Now: The Bruins are shopping hard and are trying for a shakeup. 

ESPN: And the Montreal Canadiens made the first big splash on the NHL trade market, and it barely cost them anything. 

National Hockey Now:

Vegas: Head coach Pete DeBoer described the Vegas loss to Colorado simply, “An old-fashioned ass kicking.”

NYI: The Islanders hold the best odds to win the MassMutual East Division

Philly: Good news out of Philly, even Penguins fans will enjoy. Oscar Lindblom remains cancer-free.

Seriously, that’s awesome news.

Florida: The Panthers placed Anton Stalman on waivers. 

Colorado: Calvert is out, and Adrian Dater asked Philip Grubauer about a new contract. 

San Jose: The AZ Coyotes walloped the Sharks who can’t keep it together, 5-2.
