The Oklahoma City Thunder stretched the Houston Rockets to seven games, but they are are headed for a reset/rebuild after an amicable split with coach Billy Donovan. So naturally, trade rumors around point guard Chris Paul have started.
After they acquired Paul from Houston in the Russell Westbrook trade, it seemed inevitable they would flip Paul to another team. But they kept him, and defied expectations on their way to earning the No. 5 seed in the West.
Paul seems to have plenty left at 35 years old. He averaged 17.6 points and 6.7 assists per game this season, while shooting nearly 49 percent from the floor and an adequate 36.5 percent from 3-point range.
But as was the case a year ago, Paul is not a fit for what is now firmly headed for a rebuild in Oklahoma City. The Milwaukee Bucks look to be a potential trade suitor for Paul this offseason. But even with a naturally limited list of viable suitors, based on his age and contract, they will not be the only one’s.
In a longer piece focused on the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer mentioned some other suitors for Paul.
The Philadelphia 76ers fired head coach Brett Brown after being swept by the Boston Celtics. So in concert with possibly reshaping the front office around general manager Elton Brand, they’ll be searching for a new head coach and possibly contemplating moves to shake up the roster.
But could the 76ers actually make a deal to get Paul? Here are three possible trade packages that could bring him to Philadelphia.
