The Oklahoma City Thunder are headed for a very interesting offseason after a strange season that saw Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, and Steven Adams lead them to a seven-game series against the Houston Rockets. It was a fun year, but all fun things come to an end.
Heading into the offseason, the Thunder are expected to look to make some big trades. Paul is expected to be on his way out of town and both Adams and Schroder look like they could be on the trade block as well.
According to a report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Thunder could place both Adams and Schroder on the trade block this offseason as well.
“Steven Adams is a guy I certainly look for OKC to dangle out there. They’ve done it before. Dennis Schroder as well. He’s a guy who was in the Sixth Man of the Year conversation. I don’t know if his value would be higher than it is right now.”
Moving Adams would be a major disappointment for the Thunder fan base. He is a fan favorite and has been the face of the franchise at times even when Russell Westbrook was in town. Adams is the kind of player that every team needs on their roster.
He averaged 10.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game this season with the Thunder. Quite a few teams could use some help at the center position and Adams could be their guy.
Schroder, on the other hand, put together a monstrous season for the Thunder. He averaged 18.9 points per game to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds. On the season, he shot 46.9 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from the three-point line.
Both players could be appealing to teams looking to make a move or two to get closer to contention. No one knows exactly what direction the Thunder are going to go. They could rebuild a bit, or they could simply re-tool by moving Paul and Adams and keeping Schroder alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the back-court.
All of that being said, expect to hear quite a few rumors surrounding the Thunder this option. They could very well be the busiest team on the trade market when everything is said and done.
