Welcome back Sabres fans.
Greg Vorse and Joe Yerdon discuss how the Sabres would handle a Jack Eichel trade demand and what could they get in return.
“…The question I got destroyed for asking about 18 months ago on twitter, I am now going to ask Joe Yerdon as he joins me on this Friday,” Vorse said. “That question is Joe, could you see Jack Eichel getting to a point where he would ask for or even demand a trade if he is on season five, six, seven of nothing?”
"I think when it comes to Jack, we know how much losing absolutely eats at him. You see it in the postgame. You get to see it a little on TV in the postgame interviews,” said Yerdon. “You see how much it bothers him. Three coaches and three GMs in five years is just bananas. When it comes to that you are probably wondering why isn't he asking for that now. That is a lot of dysfunction for five years of playing. If this team doesn't have progress in the next couple seasons, I give it two more years and there is no progress shows I think fans would be begging him to be free. Be free our hero and run free and get away from all this. That to me it just makes sense. Jack isn't a guy who quits or gives up in anyway, but it is just a reality. If they're still a 60 of 70 point team the next couple years I think everybody would want out.”
“You said 'Jake would be free' and he certainly wouldn't be free. If you are Kevyn Adams and I am giving you the GM job right now because you have as much experience as he has, but what are you asking in return if Jack demands a trade,” said Vorse
"I don't think you have to ask for anything, I think as that point teams are throwing anything at you to make a deal. It has to be at least two top players, at least two first round picks, and throw in a prospect. It has to be massive. I'm not talking a Gretzky deal, but it has to be something in that upper echelon of knock you on your back kind of return. That is a cart that is so far down the road that the people that are involved in that are playing junior or midget hockey right now. That is a scenario that is ripe for message boards to see what you can piece together where people put their screen shots of NHL 20 to show what makes it work,” answered Yerdon.
"Again, everyone watching, Joe and I are journalist. Our job is to ask questions and evoke thought and that is what we are doing here seeing what you could do with Jack Eichel if he got to that point. Joe, thank you for this week, five big topics around the Sabres and I appreciate that, I know Sabres fans do also,” said Vorse.
