Hyderabad, May 23: The counting of votes for the Tiruvannamalai Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18 in the second phase. This constituency in Tamil Nadu which was formed during 2008 assembly delimitation from former Tiruppattur constituency. The constituency number of Tiruvannamalai is 11 and is not reserved for any category i.e. it falls into the General Category. In Tamil Nadu, arch-rivals - the ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK will face off in eight seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The southern state of Tamil Nadu will go to polls in the second phase on April 18. The counting of votes will be held on May 23. The last day of filing nomination for the polls for the upcoming polls in the southern state in March 26 while the last day of withdrawal of candidature is March 29.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Vanaroja R of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won the Tiruvannamalai seat by defeating DMK candidate Annadurai C N. Vanaroja had won the assembly elections in 2014 by 500,751 votes.
