Blackpink, a four-member K-pop girl band of YG Entertainment, made a passionate and fierce return to the limelight after a nine-month hiatus Friday with the mini-album, "Kill This Love."

The band collaborated with different artists, such as TEDDY, R.Tee, 24 and Bekuh Boom on five songs ― "Don't Know What To Do", "Kick It", "Hope Not," a remix of "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," and the title song "Kill This Love"

The album was officially released at midnight, Thursday, with its first music video reaching 10 million views within four hours. The midnight release targeted the international market, which is unusual from the typical noon and evening (6 p.m.) release in Korea.

The band originally planned to hold a press conference on the new album Friday, but cancelled the event in respect of one of the worst wildfires in Gangwon Province which occurred a day before the release. Despite that, the title song has topped Itune sales and different music charts; the song was in the top 5 by the afternoon.

The influence of the group is remarkable, considering the views of the video and their North America debut. On April 12 and 19, Blackpink will be the first female K-pop group to perform at the Coachella music festival in Indio, California, which also features world-class musicians including Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.

The four members of Blackpink ― Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa ― will start a North American concert tour in six cities of the United States and Canada, kicking off in Los Angeles on April 17 and ending with a May 8 performance in Fort Worth, Texas.

The group also made the top 30 in the Entertainment and Sports category of Forbes' "The 2019 30 Under 30 ― Asia," which features 300 young innovators and disruptors across 10 categories in 24 Asia-Pacific countries, April 2.
