Plus Hawkeye's new sleeve tattoo.
We all better hope that the Russo Brothers, the directors of the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame are good with knots, ’cause they sure do have a lotta loose ends to tie up.
Avengers: Endgame is, after all, the conclusion to an entire ten-year phase in the Marvel cinematic experiment. A truly butt-numbing number of movies have been leading up to this three hour epic, which means that there’s an entire universe worth of relationships and character arcs that need to be organised into something resembling a neat conclusion.

Case in point: for a decade now, Captain America and Iron Man have had one of the most fraught, messy friendships in the entire Marvel cinematic franchise. Friends, then enemies, then sorta friends again, the pair were ships in the night for the most part of Avengers: Infinity War, Cap fighting Thanos on Earth and Iron Man tangled up in a different battle in space.
But if a new trailer for Endgame is anything to go by, the two are once more on a collision course with each other, one that will undoubtedly defined the shape of Endgame — particularly given one of them is almost certainly gonna die.
That’s not all the new trailer has going for it either. There’s also a brief, tantalising shot of Hawkeye, owner of the most famous haircut in Marvel history, showing off his new sleeve tattoo. There’s the return of Thanos, back from his self-imposed retirement after snapping half the Earth’s population into dusty non-existence. And there’s a lot of slow motion brooding, as the original Avengers saddle up for (their last?) big group outing.
Tickets for the film have just gone on sale in the States, creating mass pandemonium and 40-minute online wait times. So yeah, it’s safe to say that this one’s gonna be pretty popular.
Avengers: Endgame releases on April 25.
