Despite its practical improvements and controversial changes, Samsung’s 10th-anniversary Galaxy S10 does not come close to being Samsung’s most radical phone of 2019. But Samsung has now revealed the reason you are unlikely to ever buy the model that is…
Speaking to PhoneArena, “a senior Samsung official” warned that if you think the Galaxy S10 is expensive (and it is), then the screen-folding Galaxy X (details) is going to blow your mind.
The official told PhoneArena "the folder phone will be released at twice the price of a premium phone.” And given flagships from Apple, Google and Samsung itself now all start from around $1,000, that means you are looking around $2,000 if you truly want the latest and greatest technology the smartphone world has to offer.
And great it really is.
Samsung Mobile Division CEO DJ Koh is on record stating the Galaxy X (sometimes referred to as the Galaxy F), thanks to its screen fold, is both a tablet (when open) and a smartphone (when closed) rolled into one. Of course, the fact the Galaxy F now looks set to cost more than a flagship smartphone and a flagship tablet combined puts the pressure on Samsung to deliver.
To this end, PhoneArena reports its senior Samsung official admitted: “a strong user case is needed" (to put it mildy). Though the Galaxy F has already started making its case in some key areas where is blows the Galaxy S10 away.
Needless to say, however, the Galaxy S10 is going to be the more sensible buy for most Samsung fans with eye-catching upgrades and an imminent launch. The Galaxy F, therefore, remains the outsider but a potentially game-changing outsider at that…
